The Electric Guitar Neck Revealed

There are millions of people who love the sound of guitar and there are numerous people who love to play with it. Well, the guitar has different versions and the electric guitar is one of the most popular among them. However, there is a belief that the neck of a guitar is not a very important factor in terms of its performance.

But, the truth seems to be somewhat on the contrary. In fact, experts do check out the neck of the guitar to find out whether the instrument is going to suit him or not. Basically, the neck of the guitar takes most of the stress on it. Therefore, it must be strong and therefore, most of the manufacturers use different woods for the neck and the body.

However, it is true that there is no single standard when it comes to the method of attaching the neck to the body. Different manufacturers follow different rules. For example, the fender guitar neck is attached to the body with the help of screw. On the other hand, there are the double neck guitars in which two separate guitars are attached together. The rock singers sought for this guitar as it allows them to play both soft and hard music.

The exact nature of the neck of your guitar will vary according to the needs. For example, if you are the lead guitarist you should be looking for a thin neck as that will give you easy access to high frets.

Why Aerosmith Rocks After 40 Years

Aerosmith was a musical band born in 1970. Formed by five young people – Joe Perry, Ray Tabano, Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer, this band rocked the gigs and pubs in Boston Massachusetts before becoming a legend.

However, before that, they had to make a little change – Jay Tabano was substituted by Brad Whitford and from then started the journey of one of the most enduring bands in the history of music ever. In 1972, they signed with Columbia Records and since then their successful march started.

The band scorched the stages throughout the 70s setting up records after records. However, by the end of the decade, the internal conflicts started to surface. Growing drug addictions was one of the reasons why they started to disintegrate. In fact, Tyler and Perry were used to be called the toxic twins thanks to their addiction. Eventually, Whitford and Perry resigned from the band. Though Aerosmith continued its journey with replacements, it could not renew its success.

But, within this time, the band has made a permanent place in the hearts of millions. So, they have a huge fan base and even after four decades since their formation, the band is still touring all over the world, recording music and rocking people.

Many may feel that the frenzy of the band has waned a bit; but, one must give them the credit of enduring the cruel impacts of time. So, music lovers are eager to see what new the band has to offer in the coming decade.

Sarah McLachlan’s Back

Hiatuses are not uncommon in the music business; like a midlife crisis, it’s practically inevitable for all career artists. What’s less common is the comeback (and, even more so, the successful comeback), which is why Sarah McLachlan’s return to the recording studio is getting so much attention.

Back on Her Own Terms

Laws of Illusion, her latest album released June 15, is her first fully original work in seven years. Her previous release, 2006’s Wintersong, was a compilation of largely Christmas classics. That would make 2003’s Afterglow the Canadian balladeer’s last original set of songs.

“After seven years, I’m stepping out and revealing myself again,” says McLachlan about her return to the microphone. “I remember it felt like the door got slammed shut,” she said as she discussed her hiatus. “There was this huge swell of boy bands and girl bands… very heavy in marketing and sexuality.”

More on the Musical Plate

The new album isn’t the only thing occupying McLachlan’s time. The newly divorced mother of two has also said that she plans to revive the Lilith Fair tour, a fundraising concert series featuring all-female acts that she herself helped start way back in 1997. The summer music festival ran for three consecutive years before fizzling out.

Lilith Fair co-founder Terry McBride tweeted about its revival as early as April 2009, and McLachlan’s return helps make it official. The tour, which has featured the likes of Christina Aguilera and Dido, is set to kick off in Calgary, Alberta on June 27, playing through to August 16 in Dallas. McLachlan and company are reportedly eyeing UK play dates as well, although no details have been made public.

“There’s a wealth of new artists out there,” she said of the tour’s 2010 incarnation. It’s been reported that a mix of Lilith Fair veterans and newcomers will be performing on various dates, including Sheryl Crow, Rihanna and Mary J. Blige. Seo India

Ricky Martin Returns To Broadway

Pop stars crossing over (and back and forth) to Broadway isn’t unheard of. Many of the stars on now-popular TV dramedy Glee had a stage background, and even Jordin Sparks is planning her entrance into Broadway. Fans can once again count Latin pop star Ricky Martin with that number.

The Stage Calls

Martin, who most recently caught worldwide media attention when he came out as gay, has been cast in the narrator role of Che in Evita. He will be co-starring with Argentine stage veteran Elena Roger, who will be taking the play’s title role. Producers announced the casting June 9.

Evita creates a musical narrative around the life story of Argentine political icon Eva Peron, who was the country’s first lady from 1946 to 1952. It was first produced on the West End in London in 1978 and then in Broadway the next year. Madonna and Antonio Banderas once took the lead roles in a 1996 film adaptation of the story.

Roger has parallel roots to the play in which she stars. She first earned critical attention when Evita was revived on – aptly – the West End in 2006. Her performance there garnered rave reviews, and she reprises her acclaimed role in the Broadway production.

Martin the Multitalented

Martin himself is no stranger to the stage. His showbiz career has roots in musical theater in Mexico before he moved to his first American TV role in soap General Hospital. He’s no newcomer to Broadway, either; he once held the lead role of Marius Pontmercy in a Broadway production of Les Miserable.

The Latin star initially broke into the music industry via the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo in 1984. By 1991, he had built his own solo career, establishing himself in both Spanish countries like Mexico and Spain as well as North America and many European nations.

“I’ve never lost my love for the intimacy of the theater,” says the Livin’ La Vida Loca hit maker of his latest career move. He is yet to finally release the album, which he said was in the works as of June 2009. Seo India

Raw Dr. Dre Track Leaked Online

Pre-release song and album leaks are not unknown in the music industry, but Dr. Dre’s recent string of leak incidents is unusual even for the biz. The latest addition to the leak streak was the premature release of the song Under Pressure, which was originally meant for the Detox album that’s currently in the works.

Way Before Due Date

Under Pressure, a collaboration with hip-hop hit maker Jay-Z, had been in the oven since April this year when the pair announced that they would be working together. Although it took more than the two weeks that Dr. Dre had initially hoped, someone managed to get a copy of the current in-production track and let it loose on the Internet.

The leaked track seemed a few verses short of a full song. For starters, the verses have no chorus to them. It also doesn’t seem to have gone through any kind of mixing or post-processing. In short, it’s a very, very raw track.

Dr. Dre himself was quick to react; a statement was on the Interscope web page just a couple of days later. In it, he said that the leak “is an incomplete song” and that he’s “still working on [it].” “When it’s ready, you’ll be hearing it from me,” he adds.

Star-Studded Leaks

The Detox album that’s supposed to carry Under Pressure is yet to get a release date, but already has an impressive roster of artists collaborating on it; Jay-Z on Under Pressure is just the tip of the star-studded hip-hop iceberg. Ice Cube, Nas, T.I., The Game and 50 Cent have all been confirmed as helping make the album one way or another.

Detox has been plagued with leak problems of late, even before Under Pressure. The track that featured Nas and T.I. was pirated in 2009, as well as the collaboration with 50 Cent and R Kelly that became Could’ve Been You on Before I Self Destruct. Seo India

Paramore’s Hayley Has No Love For Journalists

A cover feature on a publication is usually a big compliment for a band. At least, that’s likely what the folks at SPIN magazine were probably thinking when they put Paramore’s orange-haired power vocalist Hayley Williams on their July cover. Williams, however, had something completely different to say about it.

“Just Missing It”

In a June 18 blog post on the band’s website, the candy-topped Williams wrote shot after shot at the article. SPIN magazine writer Joshua Eells describes the group as “fueled by chocolate milk on a bus that smells of popcorn and Twizzlers” for the cover article.

Eells tagged along with the band to two concerts and in the group’s tour bus, writing about the whole experience of performing, traveling and everything in between. The feature article, which was written between New York and New Jersey, was posted on the SPIN magazine website June 18.

“In most cases, writers simply enjoy looking at us,” says Hayley in her post. She didn’t want to “wreck the writer from SPIN,” Williams added. “I’m sure it’s hard to get a handle on any band.” After that point, she stopped with just their July feature and began talking about music journalism in general.

“Anyone who is coming onto our band looking for controversy is completely missing the point… The point of our music is that there are human hearts in it. Everyone knows that, eventually, someone will find something on you.” She ends her tirade by asking readers “Do you ever feel that some people are just missing it?”

Paramore Gets Love Everywhere Else

Williams, meanwhile, should have less to complain about in other areas. The group’s recent release The Only Exception has become a chart regular and the ballad is getting serious airplay on both radio and television. Hot on the heels of Exception is the music video for Careful – dropped earlier this month – from the new Brand New Eyes record. Seo India
